Fire Alarm Systems

In the advent of a fire, building occupants needs to be alerted quickly so they can take prompt action to control the fire from spreading. The emergency warning and intercom systems are a means of communication to assist in the the control of evacuation procedures during emergency situations.

If a Detection and / or Suppression system alarm goes off, the selected warning signal (audible and / or visual) will be automatically activated on those floors where the alert originated, where house wardens and deputies are normally located.

If an evacuation were to take place the Floor or Area Wardens should be familiar with all aspects of their respective areas of responsibility in regard to the location of the fire alarms, emergency warning intercommunication system and other communication devices, exits and alternate means of egress, the existence of dead-end corridors, blind passages, obscure rooms, etc. and the location and use of fire fighting equipment.

Emergency Warning and Evacuation Systems are a critical element of a building.

These systems are designed to facilitate the evacuation of a building in the event of an emergency. The system can be made of speakers, Warden Intercom Points (WIP’s) and break-glass alarms distributed throughout a building or site.

The evacuation system is triggered either by a connected fire alarm panel (having detected smoke), or by a person activating the break-glass alarm. An evacuation process will then proceed via warning sirens through the speakers connected.
